On August 6, 2012, Governor Patrick signed into law a cost containment bill that addresses issues of high-cost health care that leaders of the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization - including OSC members Lucy Costa and Alliea Groupp - have been working on for nearly two years.
The first of its kind in the nation, this legislation requires the players in the health care system to change their behaviors and structures so that high quality care can be delivered at a lower – and affordable - cost to consumers, for the sake of our individual wallets and the Commonwealth. The cost containment legislation is a stake in the ground that the growth of health care costs may no longer exceed the growth of the Massachusetts economy.
