Lilly Endowment has announced the 147 recipients of grants in the thirteenth round of the National Clergy Renewal Program. This program enables congregations to support their pastors for an extended time of renewal and reflection, allowing them time to step back and gain fresh perspective and renewed energy for ministry.
The Old South Church Council nominated Rev. Nancy Taylor for this grant, making a compelling case for her to be honored for her work and proposing a carefully considered season of travel, study, rest and prayer. Nancy’s four-month sabbatical will occur during the spring and summer of 2014 (not 2013 as stated in the grant) and will focus on researching, preparing and proposing plans for Old South Church’s 350th anniversary in 2019. The sabbatical includes time for travel with colleagues, exercise and reading. The grant also includes honoraria and programming costs to be expended at Old South Church during her absence.
